Basics of product demand reporting

The Requested Products report aggregates open demand requests for out-of-stock product variants recorded during the selected period at the product level. The report shows the requestors' emails and the requested variants, so it can be used to support purchasing planning and the design of replacement products, taking into account personal data processing rules.

Run the Requested Products report

The Requested Products report can be found in the Reports view of the Dashboard.

  1. Open Reports and find Requested Products .
  2. Select Run Report .
  3. Set the date range. The default is the last 30 days.
  4. Check the result in the Preview tab or open Export and select Download CSV .

The report does not have a manufacturer filter or a separate selection of the number of days. The preview may be truncated, so use the CSV export to analyze the entire filtered result.

Read the product-specific demand line

When you use the Requested Products report, each row summarizes open requests for a single product. The columns are:

  • Product ID : The numeric record ID of the product.
  • Product : The name of the product in the store's default data language.
  • SKU : The current model or product number of the product.
  • Number of requests : The number of open request lines recorded in the selected time period.
  • Requester Emails : distinct, non-empty email addresses stored in product requests.
  • Requested Variants : separate variant descriptions stored in requests, such as size or other variant property.
  • Total Ordered : The current, cumulative count of units ordered for the product.
  • Current balance : The current master inventory quantity of the product.
  • Last Requested : The time of the last open request for the product in the selected time period.

The rows are arranged by the number of requests from largest to smallest and, in the event of a tie, by product ID.

Prioritize demand signals

A high number of requests in the Requested Products report indicates multiple open requests saved, but not the sales potential of the product alone.

  1. Compare the number of requests to the requested options and the last request time.
  2. Check the variant-specific free balance, upcoming quantities, and delivery time in the inventory information.
  3. Compare a product's actual sales, margin, and seasonality from separate reports.
  4. Only evaluate the import or replacement product for the back range based on this information.

Total Ordered is not limited to the date range in the report, and Current Balance is not a variant-specific free balance. So, do not calculate request conversion or replenishment volume directly from the ratio of these columns.

Handle requester information securely

The Requested Products report and CSV contain customer email addresses. Use them only for approved availability notification or other designated use. Restrict access to the material, do not share the CSV unnecessarily, and delete local copies after the retention period has expired.

The general table in the report does not provide the ability to open a product, save a replacement recommendation, or send a message. Only do these within an approved product, customer, or communications workflow. Do not send marketing based solely on a request for an out-of-stock product without an applicable legal basis.

Identify the limits of the report

The Requested Products report only includes request lines with a status of open and a record time that falls within the selected period. It does not show processed requests or a separate transaction history for requests.

The report aggregates all product variants into one row and does not return variant-specific request quantity, variant balance, or manufacturer. Always confirm variant-specific decisions with product and inventory information.

The number of requests is the number of request lines recorded. It does not measure the number of possible repeated notifications from the same customer for the same option.
