How do you use the Sales Report chart?
Track sales trends hourly, daily, weekly, monthly or yearly and narrow the report with different filters.
Sales development chart review
The sales report displays daily sales within the approved sales set as a line chart. The chart helps you identify short-term changes and allows you to limit the calculation to net or gross sales, e-commerce orders or scope that includes ERP orders, and orders by manufacturer or category.
Open Sales Report Chart
The sales report chart is opened from the Reports view in the Dashboard.
- Open Reports and find Sales Report .
- From the report card, select Chart . You can also select Run Report , set the filters, and then open Chart .
- Select a date range and the necessary filters.
- View the Sales series by day in the line chart.
The chart automatically updates as the selection changes. The Last 7 days and Last 30 days at the top of the chart display the corresponding number of last daily rows.
Choose a sales calculation method
The Sales Report's Revenue Basis determines the monetary amount in the chart:
- Net (excl. VAT) shows the total order amount minus tax.
- Gross (incl. VAT) shows the total amount of the order including tax.
The volume of sales determines the order set:
- Only the online store excludes canceled, returned, offer, test, uncollected, and orders imported from the ERP system.
- Include ERP orders adds orders imported from the ERP system to the otherwise approved sales set.
By default, the report uses the last 30 days, net sales, and online store orders only. Always use the same sales basis and scope for comparisons.
Limit to orders by manufacturer and category
The manufacturer and category filters in the sales report select an order that has at least one product line that matches the filter. However, the daily sales total includes all approved sales for the selected orders, not just the portion of the filtered products.
So use the scope to answer the question “how did sales develop in orders that included a product from this manufacturer or category?” Do not name the result directly as the manufacturer's or category's own revenue.
The Country selection in the report does not change the result of the sales survey. Do not use it to make country-specific sales decisions until the report is corrected.
Read the daily trend
A single point in the sales report chart represents the sales amount calculated in the selected way for one day. The chart does not provide hourly, weekly, monthly, or yearly grouping. For longer-term comparisons, export the daily rows in CSV format and compile them in a spreadsheet using the same calculation rule.
- The increase in campaign day indicates a change in sales, but not the only reason for it.
- It is worth comparing weekly variation to the same day of the week and the corresponding season.
- It is worth checking the unusual day with orders, payments, campaigns and operational events.
Check the preview for more detailed figures.
The preview of the Sales Report Run Report function returns the number of orders, the selected sales amount, the commission calculated as a percentage per transaction, the gross sales, tax, shipping, and coupon discount on a daily basis. The chart plots only the selected sales amount.
The report does not calculate product quantity, average purchase, conversion, sales margin, or change from the previous period. Calculate average purchase by dividing the approved sales for the same day or period by the number of approved orders. Use the dedicated reports for conversion, margin, and period comparison.
