How do I edit the footer of my online store?
You will learn what can be edited in the footer from the Control Panel and when it is worth making changes in the user interface codes.

What can the Custom Footer tool edit?
The Custom Footer tool brings the main storefront footer content settings together in one view.
- In the admin panel, open CMS → Custom Footer.
- Overview shows where footer content comes from and directs you to the right place to edit it. Footer Links manages links and their grouping, while Headings and Contact Methods contains the language-specific headings, descriptions and action text you can edit in your store.
The tool can edit most footer content without changing the store’s storefront implementation.
- However, not all information shown in the footer belongs only to the footer. For example, company contact details, social media profiles and some newsletter text are shared store values.
- Overview cards show whether a change belongs in the Custom Footer tool, the store settings or shared translations.
Group and arrange footer links
Footer Links manages footer-specific links, group headings and their order.
- Select a link or heading from the list to open its editor on the right. On smaller screens, the editor appears below the list.
- Add a new item using New Footer Link.
- Give each active language a display name and, when needed, a path or external URL.
Create a group heading at the root level, then connect the links beneath it using the Parent ID field.
- For example, Info and Business Sales can be top-level headings, with their links in separate groups beneath them.
- Order determines the item sequence: lower values appear first.
- Changes to an existing item are saved automatically. Before deleting a top-level heading, move or delete its child links.
Edit headings, descriptions and action text
Edit footer headings, descriptions and action text on the Headings and Contact Methods tab.
- First select a language and edit the visible field. The change is saved automatically for that language.
- The view may include footer section headings, the store description and slogan beside the logo, trust and promotional text, contact method labels, and copyright text.
Change the wording here, not the actual contact information.
- For example, the phone label may also appear on contact pages, and the email label may appear on customer account forms.
- The store adds the year and store name to the copyright text, so enter only the copyright wording in the field.
- If the text is not available in this view, use Open Shared Translations to check whether it belongs to the store’s shared translations.
Update company, contact and social media details
Company and Contact Details and Social Media show the store’s current shared values on the Overview page.
- Choose Edit in Store Settings on the card to change the store name, address, phone number, email address or social profile URL, for example.
- Configured social profiles appear highlighted on the card, while profiles that have not been set up appear muted.
These values are shared beyond the footer and may also appear in other views and customer communications. Do not copy them into the Custom Footer editor as separate values. Change them in the store settings, then check where each shared value appears using the correct language and domain.
Edit newsletter and other shared text
Open the newsletter and other shared text editor using Open Shared Translations on the Newsletter Text card.
- The newsletter heading and description may appear both in the footer and in a newsletter popup, so the same change affects both places.
- In the translations view, select the correct language, find the visible text to edit, and check the change everywhere that text is used.
Shared translations also contain other text the application may use inside or outside the footer. Use the Headings and Contact Methods tab when the text has its own field there, and use shared translations when Overview or the three-dot menu directs you there. This keeps each shared value in one place.
When does the footer require a frontend change?
The footer is not free-form CMS content, and the Custom Footer tool cannot change its entire structure.
- The footer may include application logic, automatic links and a layout that adapts to different screen sizes.
- Changes to column layout, logo placement, new structural sections, icons, mobile behavior or the overall footer appearance are made in the store’s frontend project.
Use the Custom Footer tool to edit links, group headings, order, language-specific wording and other content shown there.
- Use the store settings for shared company details and shared translations for text used across the application.
- Request a structural frontend change only when the desired result cannot be achieved in these content and settings views.
