How to define store texts and translations?
This way you can easily manage the definitions and translations of store texts.
Table of Contents
When you want to edit the language and content-related texts of your store, you can use the Translation page. The Translation page manages all the texts that do not have a separate WYSIWYG editor or other clear management location. This article will teach you how to quickly find the text you want, update it, and publish the changes. This saves time and ensures that your customers always see up-to-date content.
1. Understand how the Translation page works
- On the Translation page, all texts are treated as translations, even if your store only has one language (for example, Finnish).
- If you have multiple languages, you will always see the source text on the left and the target text on the right.
- If the store only has Finnish, both columns will show the same language.
- Added or edited texts are saved automatically, but please note that a Publish is required before the changes appear live.
2. Find and edit existing text
- Open the page or section in the store whose text you want to edit.
- Select a part of the text or the entire sentence that you want to find on the Translation page.
- Use your browser's search function (e.g. CTRL+F) on the Translation page and enter the part of the text or phrase you are looking for.
- Replace the text with your desired new version in the right column of the Translation page.
- Once you have made your changes, click “Publish” in the upper right corner of the page for the changes to take effect.
3. Creating a new key (Add translation key)
- Click “Add translation key” if you need a brand new translation key.
- We recommend that a technical partner or integrator is responsible for creating a new key, as simply adding a key will not automatically display the text.
- The appropriate page (e.g. Checkout or Global) must be specified so that the key can be uploaded to the correct location.
- Finally, remember to press “Publish” and make sure that the key is not already in use for that page. Otherwise, the request will be rejected.

Summary
The Translation page allows you to edit the texts in your online store that do not have a separate editor. The easiest way to find the text is to search for the desired keyword on the Translation page and replace it directly with the new content. Finally, remember to click “Publish” so that the updated texts are visible to customers. It is advisable to create new keys only with consideration and in cooperation with technical partners.
