Segments: view customer groups and their CRM coverage
The Segments page brings together your customer groups in one view and shows how comprehensively each group is involved in CRM work.

Interpreting CRM coverage of customer segments
The Segments view aggregates existing customer groups for CRM coverage analysis. Each segment corresponds to one customer group, and the card shows the number of group members, customers with open CRM deals, and customers with lifecycle tags. The view is a read-only and navigational tool; group settings are not editable in the segment card.
A CRM subscription is required to display actual numbers. Without a subscription, the view shows the CRM module requirement and a locked preview with zeroed sample cards.
What does the Customer Segments view calculate?
The Customer Segments section creates one card for each customer group. A segment is not a dynamic audience that is stored separately based on behavior, attributes, or value category, but an existing customer group from a CRM perspective.
Card numbers are calculated only from actual customers. Temporary guest customers are excluded from member, open-deal, and lifecycle counts. Groups are first arranged by number of members in descending order and within the same number of members by name and ID.
The view doesn't change the customer group, customer lifecycle stage, or CRM deal. It helps you identify the group to review and navigate to its management.
Search for a customer group by ID or name
In the Segments view, the name of the search field /crm/segments is Search CRM customers . The search is based on the customer group ID and description, i.e. the name displayed in the view. A partial text match is sufficient.
After typing, the view updates the URL's q parameter with a delay of about 300 milliseconds and retrieves a bounded list from the backend. This means that the search does not just filter the pre-loaded cards in the browser, but requests the result from the server again.
If there are no groups that match your search, the view will display the message No segments found . Clear the search and try the group ID or a shorter part of the name.
Read the three figures on the segment card
Each card in the Segments view displays the customer group name, ID, and three CRM coverage figures:
- Members is the number of regular, non-temporary customers in the group.
- With open deals is the number of customers in a group who have at least one CRM deal in open status. A customer is counted only once, even if they have multiple open deals.
- Lifecycle assigned is the number of customers in a group who have a CRM lifecycle tag. The number does not differentiate which lifecycle stage the customer is in.
Always compare coverage figures to the number of members. If the group has 120 members, 18 customers with open deals, and 60 customers with lifecycle tags, about half of the members have lifecycle tags. The number of open deals does not mean 18 deals, but 18 different customers with at least one open deal.
The numbers represent coverage, not group revenue, campaign readiness, or customer quality. Use them to identify gaps to review and make business decisions based on separate sales, consent, and customer data.
Go to customer group management
The Manage group button on the segment card opens the details page for that customer group. There, you can change the group name, settings, and other group-specific information according to your permissions. The Segments view itself does not create or edit customer groups.
The new group is created in the Customer Groups view at /customers/customer-groups . Remember that the member and CRM numbers in the segment card are generated from the actual customer references in the group. Simply changing the group name will not add members, deals, or lifecycle data.
When you return to the Segments view after making a change, check the updated result. Changes made to the customer group, CRM deal, or lifecycle will only affect the numbers when the next search in the backend reads the new database state.
Use coverage figures to prepare for CRM work
The Segments view helps you find groups where CRM data needs to be reviewed. A high number of members and a low Lifecycle assigned count may indicate that many customers are missing a lifecycle tag. The With open deals count tells you how many customers in the group currently have an open CRM deal.
Don't just assume from numbers that a group should be included in a campaign. Before sending a newsletter or offer, at least check the campaign objective, the actual content of the customer group, marketing consents, contact information quality, group-specific pricing effects, and campaign targeting rules.
There is no campaign launch function in the view. The CRM coverage check is a preparatory phase; the actual customer group change, CRM work, and campaign execution are done in their own tools.
Segments do not change the online store
The Segments view is an internal reporting view. Opening it, searching for it, or comparing cards does not change the online store. The view reads customer groups and CRM deal and lifecycle references and generates coverage figures from them.
Customer groups can affect things like group-specific pricing and other ecommerce rules, but these effects are defined in the settings for customer groups and those features. The Segments card is not a pricing or publishing rule.
If you use the Manage group function to change group settings, evaluate the storefront impact of the change according to the customer group's own instructions. Viewing the Segments view alone is read-only.
How to navigate in the Segments view
The basic process for the Segments view is short:
- Open CRM Segments .
- Search for a group by ID or name, or browse cards organized by number of members.
- Compare the Members, With open deals, and Lifecycle assigned figures.
- Select Manage group if you need to change group information.
- Make a campaign or CRM decision only after reviewing the necessary consent, sales, and customer information.
If the CRM module has not been ordered, please contact sales regarding the view lock notification. If the order is valid but the correct figures are not loading, try again and provide support with the error you see, the time and the search text you used.
Summary
The Segments view displays existing customer groups as cards and counts the actual members, customers with open CRM deals, and customers with lifecycle tags for each. The search is based on the group ID and name, and Manage group takes you to the actual editing of the customer group.
Coverage figures help identify missing CRM work, but they do not in themselves indicate campaign profitability or drive change. A segment in this view is a customer group, and a CRM subscription is required to see actual figures.
