Bubbles: highlight products with colored markers
Create colorful marketing tags and attach them to products to make them stand out on your online store's product cards and product pages.
Purpose and use of product bubbles
Bubbles are reusable marketing tags that can be attached to products. A bubble has a six-character hex color and a language-specific name, such as New, Offer, or Favorite. In the Bubbles view, you maintain a tag registry; the actual bubble is selected for a product in the product edit view or using the bulk product function.
One product has one bubble tag at a time. Storefront product data combines the selected bubble name in the product language and the specified color into badge information that the online store's presentation layer can display in conjunction with the product.
Design the name and color of the product bubble
The purpose of a product bubble is to highlight one short message about a product. Typical uses include new product, offer, popular product, seasonal or other promotional classification. Use a bubble only when the same meaning is appropriate for all products attached to it.
The bubble color is given as six hexadecimal characters without the mandatory # prefix. The name is given by data language, and the maximum length of a single language-specific name is 60 characters. Keep the display name shorter than this to fit into the product card or product page implementation.
The bubble does not include customer group, inventory or validity period restrictions. If the marking needs to be removed when the campaign ends, remove the bubble from the products in a separate step. The color and name change affects all products using the same bubble.
Check the product bubble register
In the Bubbles view /products/bubbles you will see the columns ID , Color , Name and Products . The Products column tells you how many products refer to that bubble. If the register is empty, the view will redirect you to create a bubble before attaching it to the products.
The Name list shows the name of the active control language, if available. The color is shown as both a color and a hex value. Open the bubble by clicking the ID or selecting Open Bubble from the row.
Bubbles are common registry entries. Check the Products chapter before changing the name or color, as the change does not apply to just one product.
Create a new bubble
In the Bubbles view, a new character is created by selecting New Bubble :
- Select a Hex color or enter six hex characters, for example
E53935. - In the Names section , enter a language-specific name for the required data languages.
- Make sure the same language does not appear twice and the name does not exceed 60 characters.
- Select Save bubble .
The hex color is required and only accepts the numbers 0–9 and the letters A–F. At least one language-specific name must be filled in before the bubble can be saved. After creation, the dashboard opens the new bubble's details page.
Fill in the name for each language in use before attaching the bubble to the products. If the bubble name is not found for the language of the product you just selected, the online store badge information may be missing from the product data in that language.
Edit bubble
On the product bubble details page, you can change the Hex color and language-specific names. The fields in edit mode are automatically saved after a short delay; a separate Save Bubble button appears when creating a new bubble. Wait for the save to complete before leaving the page.
The change will keep the same bubble ID and product references. Therefore, changing the name or color will update the badge information for all products using the same bubble on the next product data update. Instead of changing the purpose of a widely used bubble, use a new bubble with a completely different meaning.
If the save is rejected, check the six characters of the hex value, the lengths of the names, the missing name, and any language added twice. If the session expires, refresh the page and try again.
Attach the bubble to the product
Creating a product bubble does not yet associate it with any product. Open the advanced settings in the product edit view and select the desired bubble for the product. bubbleId to be stored for the product refers to the bubble registry, and one product can have one bubble at a time.
You can also change the bubble for selected products using the bulk function in the product list. The backend will verify that the selected bubble exists before making the change. Use the bulk function with caution, as it will replace the previous bubble selection for the selected products.
Once the reference is saved, the Products count in the Bubbles list increases. Removing or replacing a bubble reduces the usage count of the old bubble accordingly.
Only remove the bubble when not in use.
The Remove bubble action on the bubble details page opens a confirmation. The deletion is blocked if any product uses the bubble, and the view shows the usage amount. First, remove the bubble from all products or replace them with another bubble.
When the usage count is zero, confirm the deletion. Deleting will delete the registry entry and its language-specific names. If you only want to change the appearance or text, edit the existing bubble instead of deleting it.
The Products chapter does not directly open the list of products using the bubble in the current Bubbles view. If the usage volume is high, use the product list filtering or managed data search to clarify the references before deleting.
How the product bubble spreads to online shopping
AI Commerce 's product bubble is transmitted to the online store in such a way that the product query retrieves the name of the bubble selected for the product in the same language as the product information and the hex color of the bubble. The representation format converts the data into a badge structure, which contains name and hex . This allows a colored badge to be displayed in connection with the product.
The exact location of the bubble depends on the e-commerce theme and template in use. When implementing, ensure that the product listing, search results, product page, and mobile view are separate. Do not assume that every template will automatically display the badge based on the registry entry.
The bubble does not store an expiration date, customer group, or inventory condition. The online store only receives the bubble based on the direct product reference and language; campaign timing and targeting must be implemented through a separate process.
Summary
In the Bubbles view, you create a reusable product bubble register. Specify a six-character hex color and up to 60-character language-specific names, save the new bubble, and then attach it to the product in the product's advanced settings or with the bulk function.
The bubble name and color are common to all products that use it, and a bubble in use cannot be deleted. The online store will receive the selected bubble as a badge in the product language, but the exact location of the badge must be verified in the theme and page templates in use.
